Our trip to Istanbul

Our trip to Istanbul

None of us have ever been so close to Turkey so we decided to take the chance and travel to Istanbul for a week. From the 15th of Nov to the 22nd of November, we spend our time discovering the city, trying to avoid collusion with other people and eating Turkish food. A few of our highlights were the Hagia Sophia, walking through the different districts (especially on the Asian side: Kadiköy), watching a soccer derby and experiencing its amazing atmosphere all over the city.
An other highlight was clearly the Turkish food. The vegetarians among us loved Çiğ Köfte, made out of Bulgur, Tomato paste with a lot of hot spices. During our trip to the Asian part, we met an old man who made Çiğ Köfte. He was very benevolent and surely made us love Çiğ Köfte even a little bit more. We also ate lahmacun (turkish pizza), pide and gozleme.

We had an amazing time in Istanbul and with its people, but after the week in this huge city (16 million inhabitants) we are glad to be back in calm Blagoevgrad.
